These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of SeriousPrep (seriousprep.com), including our website, mobile-friendly web app, and related services (together, the "Service"), operated by SeriousPrep ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
SeriousPrep is a study-preparation tool for UPSC Civil Services aspirants. It curates current-affairs articles from public news sources and PIB, generates structured study notes, MCQs, flashcards, and Previous Year Question (PYQ) answers, and helps you track your preparation across the GS1–GS4 syllabus. Some content and analysis on the Service is generated with the help of AI language models — see Section 6 below.
Core features of SeriousPrep — the daily current-affairs feed, study notes, and Previous Year Questions — are available free of charge. Certain features, including Daily Quiz, Practice MCQs, Weak-Area tracking, Insights, and personal Notes, are designated as premium features and may require a paid subscription.
We'll always show you the applicable price and terms before any charge is made, and we won't begin billing you without your explicit consent to a specific plan. We may change which features are free vs. premium, and may change pricing, at any time — we'll give you reasonable notice before changes affect an active paid subscription.
7-day refund, no questions asked. If you're not happy with a paid subscription, email [email protected] from your account's email address within 7 days of purchase and we'll refund the full amount you paid — you don't need to give a reason. Refunds go back to the original payment method.
Personal notes, tags, and annotations you create on the Service remain yours. By creating them, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that content back to you as part of operating the Service. We don't claim ownership of your notes, and we don't use them to train AI models.
You agree not to:
Study notes, MCQ explanations, syllabus mapping, and related content on the Service are generated with AI assistance (built on large language models, including Anthropic's Claude) grounded in the underlying news article and, where relevant, NCERT textbook material and past UPSC questions. While we take reasonable steps to keep this accurate, AI-generated content can occasionally contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. SeriousPrep is a study aid, not a substitute for the official UPSC syllabus, notifications, or primary sources — always verify exam-critical facts independently.
The Service's design, software, and original written content (study notes, explanations, and the SeriousPrep name/logo) are owned by us or our licensors. Previous Year Questions are drawn from official UPSC examinations, a matter of public record; we make no proprietary claim over the original question text itself. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative products from our content without permission.
We rely on third-party providers to operate the Service, including cloud hosting and storage (Microsoft Azure), AI content generation (Anthropic), optional Google Sign-In, and email/SMS delivery for verification codes. Your use of Google Sign-In is also subject to Google's own terms.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, misuse the Service, or if required by law. You may stop using the Service, or request account deletion, at any time by contacting us at [email protected].
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee uninterrupted availability, that content is error-free, or any particular exam outcome or result from using the Service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll take reasonable steps to notify you (such as an in-app notice). Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
